Wing Dad

WING DAD (currently in post-production!) is set in Big Bear Lake, during the Coronavirus pandemic.

SAM runs a local coffee shop with his wife, OLIVIA. Olivia is the expert on coffee – personable, clever, and in control. Sam, high-strung, typically runs the back of the house (numbers, business stuff), but Coronavirus AND the fact that he and Olivia are trying to get pregnant have made him paranoid. He annoys the customers, measuring whether they’re 6 feet apart, checking everyone for a mask, etc.

The complete opposite of Sam is his father, ALLEN. He’s a chaotic alcoholic author who is utterly charming. When Allen gets caught streaking down the main drag, the police call Sam to pick him up. And by the time Sam’s arrived, fifteen minutes later, Allen is no longer in trouble: he’s laughing with the cops and they’re calling Sam a stick-in-the-mud.

This apples and oranges father-son relationship is the heart of WING DAD, a coming-of-age-in-your-30s comedy feature about how our parents can shape us for better and worse (often at the same time) and how our fears of becoming them might just be the things holding us back from realizing our true potential

Paige co-wrote WING DAD with director Lucas Astrom. The film was shot on location in Big Bear in November and December 2020.

It is currently in post-production!
