Interrobang

“…has a real authenticity to it, from the relatable, realistic dialogue to the handheld camera work that makes the viewer feel like part of the action.”

“Each short has its purpose—a joke it’s trying to land, a point it’s trying to make—and each time, Feldman sticks the dismount. It’s intriguing to ponder what she could do with a bigger narrative and a longer runtime.”

About Interrobang

Shot in 2019 and completed in 2020, INTERROBANG is a 6 episode comedy anthology series I wrote and directed. Each episode features a different couple (or thruple) who is dealing with the question “Am I lovable even if…?”

Even if… I need battery powered assistance to orgasm?
Even if… my life is completely falling apart?
Even if… I make weird art that you don’t understand?
Even if… it wasn’t just sex for me and I have actual feelings for you?
Even if… I do disgusting things – like fart or eat food off the floor?
Even if… I admit love you and want to marry you?

My writing process was very personal; I took my own fears and anxieties and found the humor and heart in them. As personal as the stories were, I wanted the show to reflect a universal experience. Because sex is for everyone, regardless of race, gender, or orientation, and diversity and inclusion are extremely important to me, I cast a majority people of color (10 of 13 cast members are BIPOC) and worked with a majority women and POC crew. Two of the six episodes are centered around LGBTQ relationships and two of the six episodes feature Jewish couples.

The look of the show was also key – INTERROBANG is a romantic comedy. The comedy was in the writing and performance, so the look had to be all about romance. Each frame is full of rich color and the couples take center stage; two shots are the rule of the day and the actors’ movements motivate the camera and not the other way around. I told my DP to make it look like the best lit fly-on-the-wall documentary he could muster and he delivered!

INTERROBANG is about the fears all of us – ALL OF US – have about being emotionally vulnerable and about how those fears somehow carry more weight after getting naked and sweaty. I hope INTERROBANG makes you laugh, makes you feel, reminds you that you’re not alone and, above all, assures you that you ARE lovable even if… (whatever that weird thing is that you do).
